Glossy paper (Glossy)
It is easy to distinguish such paper at the expense of the smooth brilliant surface covered with special polymer. Glossy paper best of all renders bright saturated colors with a set of shades and color gradation. It is a printing paper of photos of professional quality and bright photorealistic images.
Best of all water - soluble ink is suitable for the press on glossy papers. Pigmentary ink, especially with large particles of a pigment, can be greased a little. Water - soluble ink quickly dries and is absorbed, creating the resistant and saturated image. It is often very difficult to distinguish the photos printed on glossy paper from the photos received in photographic studios by chemical methods. The received prints can even surpass studio in a photosensitivity. The polymeric covering however is subject to external mechanical influence and it is not difficult to damage it.
On sale there is also a rolled packing allowing to print big posters. Also some producers let out special glossy paper for pigmentary ink.
Kinds of glossy paper for the daily press, a premium class occur at producers, and sometimes meet an ultra class. Their difference generally consists in thickness of a substrate and degree of a whiteness.
