The sorbent of "Sorbonaft", is intended for absorption and fixing during actions for elimination of emergency spill of liquid hydrocarbons, immiscible with water (oil, oils, gasoline, fuel oil, kerosene, benzene and some other products) on a water and firm surface. The sorbent represents the dark brown powder on the basis of environmentally friendly riding peat of moss group made on technology of a gidrofobization without use of chemical reagents and is made according to the approved standard and technological documentation (regulations of production TU 0392-001-55763877-2007) which basis was formed by researches the Dr.Sci.Tech., professor of the Moscow Mining University, the academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences O. M. Gridin. This sorbent passed tests in various ecological services of the Russian Federation. In recent years successful field tests took place on the water area of the Neva River, on Usinsk an oil field and objects of the Russian Railway. There are independent researches, in particular the Center of Research and Control of water of St. Petersburg. The sorbent is approved by Committee of environmental management of the Russian Federation and included in a databank to Mchs.Kroma of Sorbonaft oil occludes benzene, toluene, acetic acid, ethylene diamine, four-chloride carbon, acetone, siloksanovy liquid. It is effective for collecting thin iridescent oil films. The sorbent is made in two modifications of PV (a firm surface) and VD (surface of the water) - hydrophobic. More than 10 years are delivered to various ecological services of the Russian Federation. The conglomerate oil sorbent is formed in 60-90 seconds after application, is steady and keeps buoyancy on a water surface not less than 30 days (VD).

Rassev of a sorbent over the polluted surface of the water is made manually, mechanical, pneumatic devices or with a water stream. Rassev of a sorbent over a firm surface is made manually, mechanical or pneumatic devices. At a rasseva it is necessary to try to obtain a uniform covering of the polluted surface a sorbent.
The sorbent is packed into polypropylene bags with a polyethylene insert and are in addition packed into transport polyethylene packing. Weight of one bag from 10 to 15 kg.
