High-strength cast iron
Filters are intended for protection of system and the regulating fittings against the weighed firm particles. The filter always has to be installed in front of the adjusting valve.
Filters can have various design. At-shaped filters with the mesh filtering element are most widespread (IS type). This design of filters is used for the majority of applications where the small size of a cell is not required, and also strict requirements on pressure difference on the filter are not imposed.
In case it is required to minimize pressure drop on the filter, and also at a large number of firm inclusions it is recommended to use the filter with the mesh filtering element located perpendicular to a stream of the environment (SF type).
IS and SF filters are used, as a rule, for liquids and steam, and can be also used to gases if high extent of cleaning is not required. Thinner filtration of gaseous environments requires use of the multilayered polymeric filtering elements having porous and/or fibrous structure. Such filtering elements are used in FI filters.
Pressure drop on the filter depends on working pressure, an expense, and also physical properties of the environment (for pressure drop calculation a request to address to department of the regulating fittings of the ADL Company).
