Ferro-molybdenum — the ferroalloy containing 50-60% of molybdenum.
Ferro-molybdenum is used instead of pure molybdenum at an alloying of steel, cast iron and alloys. So, in steel the content of molybdenum makes from 0,1-0,3% (alloy steel) to 3-10% (tool steel). Molybdenum improves hardenability and hardness penetration of steel, increases its viscosity, liquidates temper brittleness of chrome nickel steel, promotes preservation of properties of steel at high temperatures. The molybdenum additive in cast iron increases its durability and resistance to wear.
In combination with other doping elements molybdenum is used by production corrosion-proof, heat resisting, acid-resistant and tool staly and staly with special physical properties.
